Aylin Bilgiç

Turkish ceramic artist Aylin Bilgiç is known for her series of ceramic bowls that look like a splash of liquid frozen in time.  Born in Istanbul she graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramics and Glass.  She continued her artistic studies in various workshops including VitrA Ceramic Art Workshop.

While we love her household porcelain products we prefer to feature her whimsical hand-sculpted ceramic characters. She created three series:  The Vacationers, Ordinary People and Summer Girls.

Fran Labuschagne

Admiring the creative style of South African illustrator and animator Fran Labuschagne.  Her work often has a playful theme with a touch of humor.  We particularly like her characters and her soothing palette.  On an interview with Design Kids she says this about how she developed her style:

“I think personality also played a big role in the development of my style. The humoristic undertone is definitely due to my own tongue-in-cheek sense of humor. I’m also quite the perfectionist, so I like perfectly round corners and geometric shapes. I try to break that up a little with organic shapes and subtle rough textures, as I have a soft side to me as well.”

Juanco Alegre

JuancoAlegreJuanco Alegre is a digital artist, illustrator, graphic designer and character developer from Peru with ten years experience in film making post production. We are intrigued with his mask renditions of animals and gods posted above. On Design Ideas he writes this about what inspires him:

“My inspiration is the Andean world, myths and legends, the cosmology of the past of my country, which is rich and varied, I try to recreate these myths with a touch of fantasy and present while respecting the past. I do not have a definite style, I have some forms or designs that I like to repeat in my work, but I’m always in constant experimentation in styles.”
