The Inspirational Gekko

InspiratiionalGekkoWe’re always on the lookout for simple weekend projects and found these great bookmarks in Dwanda shop, The Inspirational Gekko. The bookmarks are hand-sewn and made of embroidered felt. We will probably explore using other fabrics when we play around with this inspiring project from Italy.

Mana Morimoto

ManaMorimotoJapanese textile artist, Mana Morimoto, is known for her quirky embroidery on paper and historical photographs. However, it is these pastel colored woven samplers that we find just as stimulating. You can follow Morimoto-san, aka MNMRMT, here on Tumbler and purchase her prints at Society 6.

Seema Krish

SeemaKrishAdmiring the vibrant fabrics created by Bombay-born textile designer, Seema Krish. She creates contemporary designs that are combined with traditional textile making techniques such as hand block printing, screen printing, embroidery, shibori and weaving. Often the techniques are utilized in combination. The company’s mission statement describes her work more precisely:

“Our mission is to enhance the lives of the users and producers of our products that are simple, beautiful and luxurious; as well as environmentally and socially conscious.”
