Cybéle Young

CybeleYoungPaper sculptures by Toronto-based artist and author, Cybéle Young.

“My practice consists of making miniature sculptures from fine Japanese papers, some of which are embellished using etchings and other media. I create exact miniature replicas of real life objects and abstract shapes. Before the sculptures are sequestered to life under glass, I often animate their moving parts in stop motion film works, offering clues to their fictional history.”

Isabelle de Borchgrave

IsabelledeBorchgraveTotally in awe of this elaborate historical paper costumes created by Belgian artist, Isabelle de Borchgrave. Inspired by a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art she began to work on four big collections all in paper and trompe l’oeil. Although noted today for fashion and paper folding the artist has never put aside her one and original driving force; painting, some of which can also be seen on her website.

Veronika Richterová

VR2These incredible regenerated chandeliers are the work of Czechoslovakian artist, Veronika Richterová. The artist together with graphic artist husband, Michal Cihlár, have chronicled everything related to PET (polyethylene teraphtalate) bottles as the highly malleable bottle has proven to be an excellent material for her artistic endeavors. Since 2004 her work has been focused primarily on PET-ART (plastic bottle art) and creative recycling. Be sure to view the amazing animal and plant sculptures on her website as well.
