Found this unique illustrated fabric book in the archives of the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), New York. The English translation of the title is “Ode to Forgetting”. The pages are composed of fabric collages and embroidery of linen hand towels from the artist’s wedding trousseau. The French artist and creator of the book, Louise Bourgeoise (1911-2010), used art as a form of purification and as she puts it, “Art is a guarantee of sanity.”
