Rei (Ray) Morimura

RayMorimuraThese contemporary woodblock prints are the creations of Japanese artist, Rei (Ray) Morimura. He began his career as a modern painter using abstract geometric forms, which later had a deep influence in much of his prints of Japanese landscapes. Considered one of Japan’s greatest living woodblock printer, his work is easily recognizable by his use of ‘flat’ perspective often depicted from a high vantage point. His prints are available in Azuma Gallery, Seattle.

Robbie Porter

RobbiePorterRobbie Porter is a Scottish illustrator currently living in London. His amusing and engaging illustrations has been seen in the pages of New York Time, Random House and New Scientist.
In his profile on Edinburgh Printmakers site he writes:

“Drawing gives one the ability to manipulate a page or image in order to take creative control over ones reality, dreams or fantasies. It enables them to explore their imagination and create things that don’t exist in the world around them.”

Kazuhito Takadoi

KazuhitoTakadoiNagoya native Kazuhito Takadoi creates these embroidered composition using materials he has grown and selected in his own garden. The horticulture and art graduate hand threads leaves, grasses and twigs onto heavy handmade washi paper. He writes this about his art:

“Nature is both my inspiration and my source of material, which is provided in abundance from my garden and allotment. There are no added colours, everything is natural, simply dried then woven, stitched or tied.”
