Zalipie, Poland

Adding Zalipie, Poland to our wanderlust bucket list.  This small village in South-Eastern Poland has an array of small wooden cottages painted in vibrant floral motifs.  Not very much goes unpainted in this hamlet.  Not only are are house exteriors painted but also churches, barns, wells, fences, fountains, bridges, dog houses, interiors and any surfaces available.  It is uncertain how this folk art tradition started but it certainly is worth a visit.

Cloudy Thurstag

Loving these Zodiac sign portraits created by Berlin-based illustrator, graphic designer and art director, Cloudy Thurstag aka Claudia.  As in many of our posts we prefer to hear from the artist herself:

“Letting yourself go and loose yourself in the moment is what I love about illustration. I switch from analog to digital all the time – when the ideas come I use pencil and paper, but for the realized illustration I work entirely digital. A lot of subjects are displaying a longing or an emotion being close to nature using cinematic colors to create an atmosphere to get lost inside.”

You can view more of these Zodiac signs and other works on her website, Behance and Instagram.  Some of her portraits can be purchased here in her Etsy shop.

Mai Yamamoto

Love these delicate glass orbs created by Japan-based artist Mai Yamamoto.  As usual there isn’t much information on the artist.  We do know that she studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts, University of Wolverhampton, UK and Anadolu Universitesi in Turkey.  She has also worked at the renowned Japanese glass studio, Ushio.

You can more of her work on her website, Facebook and Instagram.
