Josh Brill

Loving the minimalist and geometric approach of these animal illustrations by Josh Brill.  The artist and designer graduated from Maine College of Art with a degree in New Media Design.  He currently is based in Portland, Maine. In an article on Grain Edit he says this about his influences:

“My early influences, as a kid, are the ones that got me interested in art. They were comics, animation, skateboard graphics and in some subliminal way Nintendo. This led me into studying cartooning and animation in my first year of collage.”

“Later when I transferred to a fine arts school, Constructivism, Alfred Hitchcock, Saul Bass, Reid Miles, George LaRou, Matt Owens, Chris Ware, Dave Mckean and Mike Mignola were influential in my development as an artist and a designer.”

“After school when I became more confident as an artist, I found myself less influenced by artists and more by subjects like nature, culture and science.”

Camille de Cussac

Admiring these colorful and naive illustrations of French artist and author, Camille De Cussac. This Parisian illustrator has a strong connection to “people”: their habits, languages and postures. Her work is colorful, funny and often drawn on a white background.

You can follow the artist on Tumblr and Instagram.

James Lincke

James Lincke is an illustrator, designer & storyteller who works traditionally with pencils, pastels, watercolor, oils, mixed media objects and Photoshop. The award-winning visual artist has been showcased worldwide through competitions and galleries. His work often manages visually craft a narrative. On an interview with Apex Magazine he says this about his work:

“I enjoy being playful and trying to make people laugh, but I also like making people feel uncomfortable and awkward. Creating artwork is very much like exercising the body. Some days, you should jog and eat light, whereas other days you should hit the weights and really challenge yourself.”

“I go back and study my work often in an attempt to better understand my journey with art, and I’d say there’s a definite twisted humor behind a lot of the artwork I’ve created.”

More of his artwork can be viewed on his website, Facebook and Instagram. You can purchase some of his pieces in the Etsy shop, James Lincke Creations.
