Admiring these origami embellishments created by Brasilia-based artist Falk Brito. In his youth he folded planes, boats and hats and was not familiar with the term, “origamiâ€. He learned his first fold from a Sansei student and origami has since become his passion, giving it a more contemporary appeal with the use of pastel and earthy papers. We’ve featured Pikku before in our old blog site but excellent designs of home textile and paper goods are always worth a repeat acknowledgement. Pikku, a Finnish word for tiny, is the creation of designer, Valerie Ormiston. We love her simple, modern graphics, patterns and the appealing colors. Pikku shoppe can be found here at Big Cartel.

Thought we would start off the New Year with something green as shown in these letterpress cards and tags from Moontree Press. This small letterpress studio is located in Durham, Pennsylvania presided over by Rebecca Kutys, designer, printer and horticulturist. We love her green images as well as her production core value:
“Minimizing environmental impact is a core value here, and we take great care to keep our carbon footprint minimal. Year by year, we are increasing our commitment to eco-friendly methods of production. With platemaker, guillotine cutter, presses and supporting equipment fully on site, we have eliminated emissions from outsourcing any phase of production. Following production, all letterpress plates and paper scraps are recycled.â€
“Our in-house paper stock is made from 100% recycled, acid-free rag cotton. This stock is tree-free. Any scraps left over from production are saved for year-end holiday tag printing. And scraps less than 1″ are shredded and composted.â€
