Iyo Okumi

Wish we could give you more information on the artist but we found very little bio online.  We do know that the creator, Iyo Okumi, graduated from Kyoto University of Art and Design.  The Hyogo Prefecture illustrator also attended Masa Mode Academy of Art in Osaka.  Her story-telling illustrations and embroidery focuses primarily on animals, plants, landscapes and nature.

We love the embroidered pieces shown above and you can see more of her pencil illustrations on her website (in Japanese), Instagram and Tumblr.

Katsuyuki Nishijima

Katsuyuki Nishijima was born in Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1945.  Since childhood he has loved Ukiyoe (woodblock prints) and after experimenting with various forms of printing processes he focused on the “creative print” style of woodblock printmaking.  His work is extremely popular depicting subjects of old traditional Japanese rural houses and landscape in and around Kyoto.  He is a contemporary modern artist using the same traditional printing technique not machine made.  Many examples of his artwork can be seen here at Artelino.
