Cyrus Highsmith

CyrusHighsmithCyrus Highsmith is a type designer who has designed dozens of original typefaces for Font Bureau. We are, however, captivated by his graphic illustrations, prints and sketches. He has a lifelong passion with drawing as he explains on an article in Eye Magazine:

“Drawing is what I always loved the most. I discovered drawing type is drawing in a very pure form. Because a type designer does not draw letters. A type designer designs words and words are structures that contain patterns of black and white shapes, form and counterform. It is a game that deals with space and rhythm. Which is precisely what, for me, is the essence of drawing.”

You can follow the artist on Twitter and Occupant Press.

William J. O’Brien

WilliamJ.O'BrienChicago-based artist William J. O’Brien has a diverse discipline that includes painting, sculpture, drawing and installation. We are most drawn to his work of felt collages with its geometric shapes and repetitive patterns. The artist makes precise cut-outs that are then stitched against a neutral background showing an art form intricately expressed through material and process.
