Not too much is known about Japanese painter and print maker, Keiko Minami. Orphaned at a young age she expressed an early interest in art and poetry. She studied aquatint etching in Paris where many of her early works were sold. Eventually she became well known for her work with UNICEF greeting cards and book illustrations. Himo Art was founded by Japanese self-taught artist, May Sterchi, after discovering a newfound love for interior design. The San Diego-based designer uses calligraphy to inspire her hand crafted weavings and rope work. Some of her pieces can be found at Urban Outfitters where she was featured in their blog.
