Ema Shin

Japanese-Australian artist Ema Shin studied traditional and contemporary printmaking in Japan and has held solo and group exhibitions internationally.  The Melbourne-based artist’s work not only utilizes printmaking but may also include other techniques and mediums such as paper-maché, embroidery, weaving and collage with each design often depicting femininity, sexuality and domesticity.

Rana Balca Ãœlker

Couldn’t find too much information on embroidery artist, Rana Balca Ülker, but we admired her work so much that we had to share. The Istanbul-based talent has a degree in fashion and textile art.  She combines her acrylic paintings with embroidery and conveys a portrait imbued with deep expression and feelings.  Flowers and foliage are repeated images in many of her paintings.  She also created a series that focuses very powerfully on the eyes.

Ophélie Trichereau

Admiring these hand embroidered solar system created by French illustrator and textile designer, Ophélie Trichereau. She studied at Pivaut School in Nantes and is currently based in Edinburgh, Scotland.  This self-taught embroider uses embroidery thread and enhances her pieces with stones, seed and crystal beads.
