SonjaBonkHolidays will be here soon and these jewelry would certainly make for a great gift. The handcrafted pieces were designed and created by German fashion designer, Sonja Bonk. The bracelets are knotted with woolen fibers and framed with gold plated chain. The necklace is made from Aztec cotton rope with a quartz pendant. The pieces are sold under the brand name, Bonk Ibiza, and are available here on Etsy.

Kyoko Sato

Really liking these handmade bags and storage baskets from artist/creator, Kyoko Sato. Found them on Japanese handmade market site, Iichi. The bags are posted as fine knit but the stitches look like crochet. In any case we love the colors, the leather accents and the fabric-covered button embellishments.

Chinami Ricketts

ChinamiRicketts

Chinami Ricketts is the other creative partner of the Indiana-based textile company, Ricketts Indigo. Trained as a weaver Chinami crafts traditional yardage for kimono and obi. She studied indigo dyeing, indigo cultivation and processing in Japan. An apprenticeship in kasuri and weaving formed the foundation of her work today. She says this about her craft:

“…I never consider my weavings as fine art. While fine art strives to visually or otherwise address a larger audience, my kimono are intended simply to fill the intimate environment of the wearer with joy.”

“In the weaving of kimono I verify my own existence through the recollection of my ancestors and all those who employed these same techniques before me.”
