Kurogoma

Kurogoma KurogomaLove these Nordic inspired jewelry patterns created by and sold under the brand name, Kurogoma.  Not exactly sure of the process but the material is listed as plastic and coated with resin. Each piece is then made into earrings, rings and brooches. Her shop is located here on Japanese handmade market, Minne, and you can also follow her on Twitter.

Maiko Matsue

Matsue-MaikoDiscovered her work at Japanese web shop, Gallery Vie. Wish I could quote the artist, Maiko Matsue, but the typical Japanese profile usually list the schools attended, awards won and exhibitions held. In any case I love the bold coloration and simple folk inspired shapes of her graphic illustrations.

Keiko Matsui

KeikoMatsuiReally liking these ceramic pieces created by Japanese ceramist Keiko Matsui. Love the stitched and button enhanced bowls and cups. The Sydney-based artist says this of her work:

“Each ceramic object I create is part of me. I am communicating with myself, as I work on the wheel. I take pleasure in the process. Sitting on a wheel in silence is my meditative moment. When the clay actually becomes centered, my mind becomes “mu” – nothingness in Japanese.”
