Max Alexander

Max Alexander is a knitting designer and artist who in 2014 started knitting Shetland wool moths for an exhibition. The London-based artist has a background in 3d design and stop motion animation. She didn’t learn to knit until she was 20 but immediately took to it. She then incorporated yarn into her work and went on to do knitted animations and large sculptural pieces.

More of her work can be viewed on her website, Facebook and Instagram.

Kit Couture

Probably would not come out empty-handed in this Copenhagen shop, Kit Couture. The company sells project kits that contain everything needed for a particular design whether it be knit, crochet or embroidery. Their designs are inspired by Scandinavian traditions and current Danish fashion. We particularly love the pillows and stocking designs but they also carry women, men and children’s fashion and accessories. The bonus is that they ship worldwide.

You can view their designs on their website, Instagram and on Facebook.

Channing Hansen

Admiring the knitted paintings of Los Angeles-based artist Channing Hansen. He was educated at the San Francisco Art Institute where he participated in the New Genres Program. His hand-knitted constructions are stretched on wooden frames and uses loops of yarn to form painterly abstractions. He has mastered the skill of knitting, from acquiring raw fleece to dyeing and spinning yarn.

You can view more of his work here on Instagram.
