Chris Bracey

ChrisBraceyHave always wanted neon artwork in my home like these created by the late British artist and designer, Chris Bracey, who owned one of the largest collection of neon signs and sculptures outside the U.S. Many of his designs are one-off pieces so they are really quite rare. You can view his gallery of work on the website, Gods Own Junkyard.

Jessica Harrison

JessicaHarrisonLove these tattooed ladies of refinement created by Edinburgh-based sculptor, Jessica Harrison. The artist uses found ceramics and paints traditional tattoo images of skulls, hearts and daggers on these demure, feminine figures. She explains the juxtaposing as follows:

“Moving beyond a bi-directional model, Harrison proposes a multi-directional and pervasive model of skin as a space in which body and world mingle. Working with this moving space between artist/maker and viewer, she draws on the active body in both making and interpreting sculpture to unravel imaginative touch and proprioceptive sensation in sculptural practice. In this way, Harrison re-describes the body in sculpture through the skin, offering an alternative way of thinking about the body beyond a binary tradition of inside and outside.”

Yumi Okita

Yumi-OkitaThese stunning moth and butterfly sculptures are the creations of Japanese textile artist, Yumi Okita. The North Carolina-based designer creates these large pieces using different materials – cotton, feather, faux fur, embroidery thread and painted fabric. The pieces are sold here in her Etsy shop, which is currently showing a sculpted poppy that may be the start of a botanical series. Anxious to see her impending creations.
