Turbo Pattern and Design

One of our favorite project as graphic designers is to create surface pattern designs. The patterns shown above are the works of Takuya Tada, designer, director and surface pattern designer for Turbo Pattern and Design.  The artist is based in Osaka, Japan. After working at a design office, he worked at a trading company for design and direction centered on space production graphics.  He also worked as a pattern designer making patterns for 1500 days in a row and this year started activities as Turbo Pattern & Design.

More of his work can be found on his website, Behance and Instagram.

Sweet Softies

We are always looking for handmade gift ideas this time of the year.  Luckily we found this crochet project, Tea Rose Spa Set, on Ravelry created by Jade King an amiguri and crochet enthusiast.  Her background is primarily in fine arts, specifically graphite, water color and Chinese painting.  However, she has always had a particular interests in crafts such as origami, sewing, doll-making and ceramics…any creative activity using her hands.

The pattern for this crochet set (bath pouf, washcloth, scrubbier and soap holder) can be found here on Ravelry.  The crochet artist can be followed on her website, Facebook and Instagram.  You can purchase her crochet patterns in her Etsy shop, Sweet Softies.

Aji Project

In the northeastern part of Shikoku Island in Japan the stone industry has been developing since ancient times. It is in this location that the company, Aji Project, can be found.  The company makes stone products from Aji stone, the hardest of all granite in Japan and is often called a granite diamond.  The texture is fine, and the luster and color are graceful and beautiful.  The household products of Aji Project are created by skilled craftsmen and blends naturally into any interior.  In their website they say this about the material:

“The first tool people used was stone. Stones have been in nature, very close to us for a long time. People feel the softness of the naturally born roundness, the hardness of the rugged rock surface, and the cool and comfortable temperature by touching it without any special consciousness. A stone product that stands quietly near people.”

More of their product can be viewed on their website, Facebook and Instagram.
