Lindsey Thomas

Admiring these felted whimsical animals created by London-based textile artist, Lindsey Thomas.  She excels in the art of needle felting, poking and stabbing fiber with a needle until a desired shape is created.  In 2012 she acquired a degree in illustration from Middlesex University and in her spare time dabbled with mix media and fiber. On her bio she says this about her art:

“I find joy in the way a pile of fluff can be magically transformed into whatever animal might be summoned from my mind. Once the face is there with eyes to peer at me as I stab life into the creatures, I fall a little bit in love with them.”

You can follow the artist on her website, Behance, Facebook and Instagram.  Some of her pieces can be purchased on her online shop.

Jose Heroys

Jose Heroys is a fiber artist who makes bird sculptures and fiber art in her Sussex studio. The inspiration for her work comes from a life-long love of birds, nature, and wildlife. Each piece is made by hand using a mixture of crochet, needle-felt and her own invented techniques. The birds are made from wool yarn, fleece and natural fibers with each bird wearing individually numbered metal leg rings.

More of Jose Heroys’ awesome work can be seen on her website, Facebook and Instagram. Some of her pieces are available on Etsy.

Lindsey Tyson

We’ve never tried felting before but might give it a stab specially after seeing the exquisite works of textile artist and designer Lindsey Tyson. The UK-based artist is a weaver by trade but has successfully sidestepped into the art of felt making creating a line that is both tactile and sophisticated. She is inspired by the sea, landscape and nature of the North Yorkshire coast.
You can follow the artist on Facebook and on her website where she list shops that carry her line.
